Quinn’s three-wicket haul helps Lynx wrap up league title
HENLEY LYNX U9s wrapped up the Berkshire Youth League Central Division title with a 52-run win
HENLEY LYNX U9s wrapped up the Berkshire Youth League Central Division title with a 52-run win against WARGRAVE U9s.
Captain Sam Winters won the toss and elected to bowl first. Bowler of the day Conor Quinn with three wickets, along with Will Corbett and Jago Dyer restricted Wargrave to 232-9.
In response Corbett (23) and Quinn (10) were joined by Toby Shemilt on 9 in helping Henley to 284-4 in their 15 overs.
With three teams at the top of the division all Henley could do was wait and see how the remaining results for Peppard Stoke Row and Sonning turned out as both teams had several matches yet to play.
Peppard Stoke Row lost and although Sonning won all their remaining games after losing to Henley at Harpsden their run rate was just not high enough as the Lynx clinched the title with eight wins out of 10 matches.
Henley now progress to the knockout phase with a semi-final fixture to be set away against Pangbourne Whitchurch from the West Division.
Across all games this season Charlie Hunt (156), Corbett, (131), Oliver Saunders (100), Jago Dyer (82) and Quinn (79) have all shown prodigious talent with the bat. The bowling for the Henley Lynx have been similarly impressive with Quinn (17) being the top wicket taker and Saunders (13) and Charlie Hunt (10) also impressing.
Elsewhere in the team Sam Winters, Emerson Proctor, Oscar Thomas, Douglas Amlot, Charlie Hughes, Justin Sheriff, Ben Horner, Ben Knight and Ben Hemmings have all put in solid performances.
