Penultimate over win in high scoring clash

GORING came out on top in a 400-run thriller against LETCOMBE on Sunday.

GORING came out on top in a 400-run thriller against LETCOMBE on Sunday.

Letcombe’s score of 204 was largely built around 43 from John Pechey, and some late hitting from Jones-Waters with 66, as Goring used nine bowlers during the innings.

Goring’s response began quickly with 129 scored off the first 20 overs as Andy Steele with 83 (including his 1,000th run of the season) and Stephen Wincott with 53 put on 115.

A fall of wickets, led by Letcombe’s Joe Harris with 3-37, caused the innings to stall and it was only a match-winning 35 not out from Pete Slade which saw Goring home in the penultimate over.
