WHITCHURCH, having been asked to bat on what turned out to be a good batsman’s wicket, took full advantage of some waywood HIGHMOOR bowling on Sunday.
Leach and Chapman put on 103 before a sharp caught and bowled by Rizmy removed Leach for 30. Williams joined Chapman and they continued to plunder the bowling, Chapman reaching his century and finishing on 143 not out. The innings closed on 223-1 from their 35 overs. Expectations were high at the start of the Highmoor innings on this small ground. But at 6-2 in the fourth over 224 looked a long way off.
Rasheed joined Rizmy and the repair work started. Rasheed’s deft and wristy strokes coupled to the power of Rizmy smashing the ball to and over the short square boundaries saw Highmoor race to their target in 31.2 overs. Rizmy finished on 128 not out with Rasheed 78 not out.
