Hosts are put to the sword

GREYS GREEN eased to victory at HOLTON AND WHEATLEY on Sunday.

GREYS GREEN eased to victory at HOLTON AND WHEATLEY on Sunday.

After winning the toss Greys Green had no hesitation asking the home team to bat first on a parched strip with plenty of grass on it. This brought immediate reward, with a wicket from the first delivery, a slip-catch from a lifting ball.

Rooke and Ahmed were almost unplayable and, even when changes were made, wickets continued to fall and only Burford, Banyard and Taylor reached double figures. With all catches safely held, Holton were eventually dismissed for just 54.

Although the wicket remained lively, openers Butler and Cross negated all attempts from a pacy Holton attack and despatched anything off-line to the boundary, to such effect that Greys reached their target, without loss.
