A FINE bowling performance by Jody Measures secured victory for HENLEY ASTROS against London visitors ARCHWAY LADDER on Sunday.
Invited to bat first on a good batting track at Peppard Common, the visitors made a brisk start with Eugene Walsh scoring at pace before he was removed by Roy Cox.
Left-hander Asif Patel looked dangerous before scooping a catch off Rowan Austin, who also dispatched Shani with a slower ball.
But it was a te spell from Astros’ leading all-rounder Measures that ripped through the Londoners’ batting line-up. Measures bowled with accuracy, pace and bounce, taking 5-19 from his eight overs. Richard Woolfrey picked up the final wicket to leave Archway Ladder 103 all out.
In response, the Astros made easy work of the chase after losing openers Dan Austin and Ross Hibberd early. Benji Hetherington hit a breezy 34 which included a maximum. Woolfrey and James Baker accumulated runs sensibly while Ed Foster demonstrated an array of innovative shots around the ground, ending unbeaten on 37 and taking the Astros to victory in just 23 overs.
