HENLEY Cricket Club’s talented 17-year-old all rounder Euan Woods was at the forefront of Surrey’s victory last week in the final of the ECB U17 County Three Day Competition Championship which took place at Arundel Castle against Lancashire.
Woods scored 141 as Surrey posted a total of 415. In reply, Lancashire were all out for 246, Woods taking three catches and bowling two overs for 17 runs. The game was rain affected and decided on the basis of the teams’ first innings scores. Woods was unable to play for Henley last Saturday as he was travelling to Kibworth CC to play for Surrey U17s in the ECB U17 one day final against Durham held on Sunday.
Batting first, Durham posted a score of 237 which Surrey chased down to win by two wickets. Once again, Woods was in the thick of it, posting a score of 33, bowling six overs for a miserly 21, taking a catch and posting a run out.
In the ECB U17 County Competitions, Woods has scored a total of 702 runs at an average of 50.14.
