Father and son shine with bat and ball

SONNING COMMON ended a successful season with a 74 run victory at MOULSFORD on Sunday.

SONNING COMMON ended a successful season with a 74 run victory at MOULSFORD on Sunday.

Put into bat, the visitors started well with opener Howard Cook anchoring the innings with a solid 21. However, it was a majestic 91 from Louis Gallimore that dominated the Sonning Common effort, batting with ease and hitting shots to all parts of the ground. Louis was well supported by his dad, Chris, who hit 53.

The Moulsford bowlers stuck to their task well with Jay taking two wickets but they were unable to stop the Gallimore surge and the visitors ended on 186-4 off their 35 overs.

In reply Moulsford were never able to threaten the Sonning Common total thanks to good tight bowling from the Slater twins, Dan and Matt.

Chris Gallimore then took over and capped a good day for himself by capturing five wickets in the middle order. Only Allen and Beardmore-Grey provided any resistance but the home side were always a long way behind the required rate.

Moulsford’s youngsters batted well at the end but Louis Gallimore picked up three wickets to wrap up the victory for Sonning Common.
