Big-hitting Mayo helps side see off Regals

JEZ MAYO hit 80 not out to help hosts STONOR defeat visiting side REGALS.

JEZ MAYO hit 80 not out to help hosts STONOR defeat visiting side REGALS.

The visitors started well but Kavanagh struck in the third over to remove Raman with a lifting bounce. Naresh provided an anchor for the innings and punished any stray bowling to build an innings for the team.

Swinburne-Johnson bowled his best spell of the season, 3-28, and kept one end firmly tied down while Oliver Kavanagh, 4-46, was dangerous and picked up wickets in his second spell. Some rash shots and good catching proved the undoing of the visitors who played some rash shots to see them bowled out 15 minutes before tea.

Stonor’s innings did not start well and sharp bowling from Indy removed Jewell and Cripps in the first over. Mayo carried his bat for a well worked 80 not out allowing Farr to bat alongside him to reach his first Stonor half century. This provided the platform for the remaining batsmen to finish the innings and see Stonor to victory.
