FORMER England cricketer Angus Fraser will unveil Harpsden Cricket Club’s new pitch next Saturday.
The pitch, off Harpsden Way, has been improved as part of a £175,000 renovation project.
The work included moving the pitch, building new youth facilities for junior teams and refurbishing the 100-year-old pavilion.
The money was raised through donations from the John Hodges Trust for Harpsden Hall, Sport England, South Oxfordshire District Council and Oxfordshire County Council. The club raised £4,500 in August when six players, Horatio Cary, Alfred Cary, Adam Birkett, Zac Jones, Sasha Burgess and Toby Stevens, took part in Tough Guy, a 12-mile obstacle course race, in Wolverhampton.
The club, which turned 125 last year, will mark the opening with a match between a chairman’s XI and president’s XI, starting at 2pm.
