ENGLAND cricket star Heather Knight held a training session with girls from Henley Cricket Club.
Knight, 23, who featured in the women’s recent Ashes tour, visited the club on Wednesday last week.
She told the Henley Standard: “I think it’s important that they see what playing for England is like and see that I’ve come through a similar pathway to them. It inspires them to carry on playing and doing well.”
She is an ambassador for Chance to Shine, a sports charity keeping cricket alive in state schools, and added: “It’s great that more clubs are supporting it. It’s great for the future of the women’s game.”
Damaris Hayward, manager of the girls’ team, said: “We’re just so fortunate to have her because she’s such an inspiration to all of them.
