WHITCHURCH forfeited the rule of seven overs per bowler on Saturday after hosts GREYS GREEN could only field two regular bowlers.
The visitors also lent the hosts two players to field with as they only had nine men. Whitchurch made steady progress throughout but it was only in the last half-an-hour when boundaries arrived with any regularity and only opener Turner and Leach made sizeable contributions. Elsewhere youngster Matt Kilford made 18.
Rooke bowled 20 overs non-stop, taking three wickets in the process, one a left-handed return catch from Xavier.
Unlike Greys, Whitchurch had a surfeit of bowlers but none of them was able to make a breakthrough and Hoggart, along with Knight, put on an opening stand of 145, before Hoggart was run out for 24.
Runs had not come fast enough as Greys finished on 172-1 with Knight making his second successive century, undefeated on 108 as the match ended in a draw.
