HARPSDEN won the toss and elected to bat first on Saturday against GREYS GREEN.
Proceedings started badly for the home side losing three wickets for 18 runs thanks to aggressive bowling from Ahmed and tight bowling from Rooke.
B Hancock and W Stevens batted well to get up to 69-3 at the mid-way stage but a good knock from J Paice saw Harpsden post 143 off their 40 overs.
In reply Greys Green started well with G Butler and James Knight getting the visitors off to a solid start reaching 50 without loss. Once I Whittaker got Knight out, stumped by Stanley, wickets started to fall regularly which meant the run-rate started to climb.
With Greys Green requiring 14 off the last two overs and three wickets remaining, they were the favourites to win but some fine bowling from J Paice meant that Greys fell nine runs short of victory off their 40 overs.
