HENLEY may have missed out on the opportunity to chalk up a second home win last Saturday against ASTON ROWANT in the league but they were in the ascendant when the same side returned to the Brakspear Ground on Sunday for the Home Counties Premier League T20 quarter-final.
Batting first, having won the toss, Aston Rowant were restricted to just 93 off their 20 overs, thanks to tight bowling by virtually all the bowlers.
Tahir Afridi’s two overs went for just 12, Tom Nugent’s three overs went for 13 and he picked up two wickets, Matt Carter’s four overs resulted in 2-11, Tahir Kazmi’s four overs went for 1-20, Euan Brock bowled three overs recording 2-9 whilst Gurveer Singh recorded 1-11 off three overs.
Nick Ferraby (44) and Karl Penhale (18) were Rowant’s leading run scorers.
Henley started the reply at 3.16pm and ended just 29 minutes later as man-of-the-match Carter blasted 46 runs off just 14 balls, clubbing 17 off one Karl Penhale over and 28 off Nick Ferraby’s only over.
