FRIENDS XI ran out winners of the Reading and District Midweek League’s Keith Mitchell Memorial Cup at Gallowstree Common on Thursday of last week against host side KIDMORE END ACADEMY.
Kidmore End Academy won the toss and chose to bat but wickets by the Friends XI openers Spear and Bartlett had them reeling on 24-3.
Other than a fine 29 by Crawford, the remaining batsmen could make little impact and the eventual total of 95 looked inadequate as Spear, Dickenson, Lines and Cotton took two wickets apiece.
Friends XI found scoring equally difficult but Kidmore could not take the wickets. Bartlett’s 29 provided a solid foundation which was carried on by Jansen and Friend accelerated to a comfortable win in the 13th over.
