All rounder shines for league leaders

YOUNGSTER Will Legg starred with bat and ball as PEPPARD STOKE ROW KITES thrashed CHELSEA NOMADS by 111 runs on Sunday.

Father and son combination Gerry Bacon and 13-year-old Daniel shared an opening stand of 87 before Legg’s 80 pushed the hosts into a dominant position. The 16-year-old showed his class with an innings which showcased an impressive array of shots all around the wicket before he was eventually dismissed by Ashish Quadril 20 shy of his century. Saturday second team captain Gary Legg continued his resurgent form with 33 and allied by Simon Gozzard and Will Sadler, the trio continued the assault as the home side posted an imposing 277-4 off their 40 overs. Will Legg made an early breakthrough - aided by a stumping by the younger Bacon - before the Nomads began to settle in their pursuit of victory.

With Thomas and Whiting at the crease a Chelsea victory appeared possible but their demise heralded a collapse for the visitors.

From a position of strength the Nomads fell away from 125-2 to 166 all out as Legg and Mick Chard senior secured a victory for the Kites.
