Cricket club’s summer ball raises £3,500
A SUMMER ball raised £3,500 for Henley Cricket Club.

About 200 guests, including players, officials and their friends and families, attended the event, which was held in a marquee at the Henley Royal Regatta site.

There was a champagne reception, three-course meal and music by London band Vegas Nights. David Winter, the club’s fund-raising and sponsorship chairman, said: “We were incredibly lucky with the weather and the guests had a splendid evening.”

Money raised by the annual ball, as well the club’s three other annual fund-raisers, goes towards paying off a loan from Henley Town Council which helped the club buy the Brakspear Ground in Matson Drive in 2005.

The club’s next fund-raiser will take place at Phyllis Court Club in October, when former England cricketer Graham Gooch will be the speaker. If you would like to attend, email Mr Winter at davidewinter@tiscali.co.uk
