HOSTS HURLEY triumphed in their Division 2 relegation encounter with WRAYSBURY at Shepherds Lane on Saturday.
The visitors won the toss, opted to bat and launched into a threatening opening stand of 39 in 11 overs with Singh belligerent before Ross Brown forced skipper Tom Dibley to sky over slips where Phil Ridgeway backpeddled to take a tumbling catch.
Two balls later Brown pegged back Singh’s off stump and Wraysbury faded. The visitors declined to 69-5 as Brown captured the first five wickets to return successive five-wicket hauls in the last two matches.
Ahmed and Freeman eked out 28 for the sixth wicket before Varun Sharma took two identical dismissals in the 34th over forcing Freeman and Rabbani to drive at cover where Brown pouched both catches.
Ahmed proved pivotal guiding the visitors to 122-7 before the left arm of Ridgeway removed this threat with Ahmed scooping to extra cover. Ridgeway wrapped up the innings but not before Brown took his third catch of the day. Ridgeway took a return catch to see the visitors dismissed for 133 inside 50 overs. Hurley were again over-generous with extras, adding 28 to the total.
