HENLEY 2nds moved out of the Division 1 drop zone with an 87-run victory over WOKINGHAM at the Brakspear Ground last Saturday.
The hosts won the toss and elected to bat first on a wicket that, while it would provide some assistance to the bowlers early on, looked set to crumble later on, providing Henley’s spinners with a chance to shine.
Jones and Price opened up, with the former playing two aggressive front-foot shots off Fowler with great success.
Wokingham’s overseas bowler had both openers caught at the wicket before Gurung latched onto a wide long hop, only to direct it straight to Hall at extra cover.
With the score at 19-3 Henley were looking precarious — a situation that could have been even worse had Fowler’s slower ball to clean up Oldershaw not been adjudged a no ball.
