Fine performance gives Kidmore End a chance

WITH an outside chance of staying up, skipper Jeff Sheldon had a tricky decision to make when he won the toss as KIDMORE END faced BEACONSFIELD for their last home game of the season.

The difficulty was whether to pursue 25 points by batting first, or place his team in a better position batting second knowing 20 points would be the maximum he could secure.

He opted to go for the best chance of winning the game, knowing that would be better for morale going into the last week than the extra five points.

The damp wicket made the pitch unpredictable, but as the sun shone the drying process would mean batting would become easier in the evening.

Beaconsfield crept to 48 without loss after 18 overs and the glacial pace would continue deep into the innings.
