Big-hitting Harris wraps up victory

HOSTS STONOR defeated local rivals HAMBLEDEN on Sunday in a match played out on a worn pitch.

The visitors batted first and lost Rosier, caught at gully by Lovatt, to the first ball of the match.

Carberry took the initiative to hit 43 before edging to stand-in keeper S Harris off the lively bowling of first change bowler Kavanagh.

Singh battled sensibly for 30 to rebuild the Hambleden innings before hitting a half volley straight to Denton at cover who made a fine catch.

This swung the balance in the home side’s favour and the final four wickets fell before tea as Hambleden looked to push on against the spinners. William Lovatt took his first senior wicket for Stonor as the visitors’ innings closed on 158.
