Ridgeway dismisses three in final over to help secure victory

HURLEY ran out winners in the annual end of season friendly against HAMPTON HILL at Shepherds Lane on Saturday.

Naeem Akhtar called correctly and chose to bat first, sending out Phil Ridgeway and Mike Walton to open the innings.

The first half-a-dozen overs gave no cause for alarm as 23 runs were posted. Pankash Malav’s switch to bowling round the wicket to the left-handed Ridgeway paid dividends with the batsman playing down the wrong line and losing his middle stump.

Hampton Hill skipper Nally Fernando replaced Robbie Coates and struck with his sixth delivery. Josh Cole looked comfortable scoring half a dozen runs from 13 deliveries before falling to a return catch by Steve Lidlow.

Imran Arshad made the major contribution with 34 out of a 50 run partnership with Walton for the fourth wicket. Newton-Savage plied his off spin with good effect and was rewarded when he had Arshad caught on the square-leg boundary by Malav.
