HENLEY WOMEN played their first ever match when they hosted NORTH MAIDENHEAD LADIES at Nettlebed.
With girls’ numbers at Henley Cricket Club growing steadily over the last three years it became apparent there was a need for a women’s side.
Led by 14-year-old captain Amy Bartlett, pace bowlers Romilly Hayward and Maddie Brown opened the bowling and set a good standard. North Maidenhead lost wickets to the bowling of Brown, Hayward and youngest player, 10-year-old Nick Lee.
There was a direct hit run-out from 16-year-old Anna Chapman as North Maidenhead Ladies finished their innings on 138-4.
North Maidenhead, having given Henley a solid target to meet, took to the field but despite some strong batting performances from Anna Chapman, Amy Bartlett, Bronte Pye and Romilly Hayward, Henley fell short of their target by 29 runs, finishing on 108-9.
