RAIN in the early hours of Saturday morning and ensuing heavy showers conspired to wash out all Henley’s week one league games, writes Robert MacLeish.
Henley’s Home Counties Premier League 50 over game against Oxford lasted just 5.4 overs before the heavens opened to put an end to a context which was fortunate to have commenced in the first place.
In that time, Oxford scored 19 runs and skipper Bjorn Mordt opened his wickets account bowling New Zealander Mark Beer for a duck.
The only game to be completed in Division 1 was at Gerrards Cross where Banbury were the victors.
This makes Henley’s journey to Banbury’s White Post Road ground tomorrow (Saturday, 11.30am), another 50 over game, all the more important to make up ground lost last weekend and to rein back Banbury’s early progress.
