A MAGNIFICENT fielding display helped PEPPARD STOKE ROW cruise to a seven-wicket win at SANDHURST.
Peppard won the toss and made early inroads as Tim Vines dismissed Andy Tutty for a duck, smartly taken by a diving Rich Ashton at first slip.
Tom Macdonald put further pressure on the hosts, when captain Adam Birch was sensationally caught via a one-handed diving catch by Sam Fletcher at backward point.
Macdonald then dismissed the dangerous Simon Hards to leave Sandhurst 17-3 before Anthony Clapham led a brief fightback.
However Ian Jackson accounted for him, a well-judged catch by Vines on the long on boundary removing the Camels dangerman.
Steve Phipps was the next man to fall victim to PSR’s electric fielding, with Ashton’s one-handed effort at slip giving Roy Hayden a first wicket of the season - his 879th league wicket in an illustrious career.
Andy Watts joined in on the act with a blinder at gully to remove Chris Whiteoak, whose 13 runs came from 74 balls. Olly Nicholson then polished off the tail with his left-arm spin as Sandhurst were rolled over for just 84.
In reply, Watts for once failed as he was caught at mid-off from a leading edge, but Paddy Hennessy and Fletcher consolidated smartly.
Aron Shallom caused a wobble in the Stoke run chase as he trapped Hennessy and Vines lbw in the space of three balls to leave Row 42-3, but Fletcher and Ashton guided their side home.
