HOSTS HAMBLEDEN were weakened by unavailability and fielded three youngsters against GREYS GREEN on Saturday and, as a result, struggled throughout.
The pitch was slow and good bowling by Ahmed, Shafqat, Skilleter and Lubbock made life difficult as only Rosier and Arnold were able to put up any lengthy resistance. Despite an enterprising cameo from A Richards, Hambleden could only reach 78-7 after their 40 overs.
This was always going to be a difficult total to defend but the bowlers, A Richards especially, with only five runs from his eight overs, made Greys fight for every run.
Apart from the fall of Dennis, at 26, Knight and Smith (21 not out) saw Greys through to their target, with Knight bringing up his own 50 with the winning boundary.

On a slow wicket on Sunday, TWYFORD AND RUSCOMBE found themselves up against it from the start at GREYS GREEN, with opener Khan falling in the first over.
Although Woodman and Woodbridge fought hard to take the score to 28, once they were separated Twyford lost wickets at regular intervals, three of them to debutant Pheiffer, who finished with 3-17.
Good catching from Perry and Pheiffer made recovery impossible as Twyford were all out for 77 just before tea.
In reply, Dennis first took the initiative but, once Perry was settled, he unleashed a flurry of powerful boundaries and his winning six also brought him to his half-century.
