Rash strokes prove costly for host side

FOLLOWING a promising start to their Division 1 clash at Shepherds Lane, HURLEY crashed to defeat against PENN AND TYLERS GREEN 2nds.

Despite heavy rain in the morning, just one hour’s play was lost, resulting in the match being shortened by 20 overs.

Naeem Akhtar won the toss for the hosts and inserted the visitors. Hurley produced a fine bowling display on a deck that produced good bounce and carry.

Ross Brown bowled opener Morris with his third ball and with Akhtar bowling another fine spell wickets tumbled with frequency.

Jonathan Langlands provided a first change though a stubborn last wicket stand of 25 and 22 extras had a faint alarm bell ringing for Hurley as the visitors were all out for 95.
