GREYS GREEN opening batsman Geoff Butler hit a half century to help his side defeat visiting side STROLLING OPTIMISTS on Saturday.
The storm of the previous night had slowed the wicket and batsmen had difficulty timing the ball but a good opening spell from Jenkins made life for the Optimists anything but a stroll, though it was Haynes who made the initial breakthrough.
Alderson and Thorne played positively in response but Jenkins gained his reward with three quick wickets to put the visitors under pressure at 45-4.
Cusden took three quick wickets as the Optimists struggled at 57-7. Anson batted strongly for 22 and, together with captain Marsh, their partnership ensured the visitors reached three figures.
Marsh ran out of partners and was left stranded on 34 not out, with Cusden finishing with 5-31.
