Harris ends just short of century

STONOR won the Richard Hunt Trophy for the first time since 2009 when they hosted TURVILLE on Sunday.

Home captain Marc Lovatt won the toss and elected to bat. After losing Jez Mayo and Oli Kavanagh to early wickets off the tight bowling of Turville’s Hunt junior and P Girdler, the hosts were poised at 7-2.

Stonor’s middle order were able to steady the ship and M Lovatt, J Powell and I Harris’ 99 not out provided the team with a healthy total of 212-5 from their allotted 40 overs.

In reply S Harris and A Warren bowled a good opening spell with Harris dismissing both C Simon for 2 and T Wade for a duck.

At 15-2 Turville were in a similar position to Stonor’s earlier start. Beardall and Hunt junior formed a good middle order partnership, which was eventually broken up by a catch taken by Lovatt off Bradshaw’s bowling.
