HENLEY all-rounder Matt Carter was a hero for BERKSHIRE as they drew with WALES MINOR COUNTIES in their Unicorns Championship match at Usk this week.
Having been set an improbable target of 426 to win, Berkshire looked to be heading for defeat at 125-7, with skipper James Morris having hit 53 and Henley wicketkeeper Stewart Davison 33.
But Carter and Rob Williams showed tremendous determination and concentration to survive the last 30 overs of the game, taking the final score to 190-7.
Carter remained unbeaten on 49 after occupying the crease for 131 minutes.
Williams was at the crease for nearly two hours. He faced 89 balls, scoring off just five of them, and they all came in the first 33 deliveries.
