Alexander wraps up win in style

HAMBLEDEN ran out winners at the Dene against HADDENHAM on Sunday.

The hosts lost the toss and were invited to field. Haddenham opener Bharat made good use of the recently rolled wicket to chalk up a well constructed innings of 65. He was ably supported by Pickering and at 99-2 they looked set for a big total.

Hambleden skipper Nick Arnold introduced himself into the attack and took four wickets to reduce Haddenham to 107-6. Kieran Bailey’s left arm swing bowling accounted for top scorer Bharat, caught in the leg side trap by Ben Keene. Keene’s catching ability also snared Pickering.

A late flourish by Squires helped post a total of 167 all out for the visitors although he was left high and dry by two run outs. Arnold was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 5-18 off his allotted eight overs.

In response Hambleden were indebted to Phil Rosier who hit 58 in a second wicket partnership with Ash Singh of 82 runs. The latter went on to accredit 43 runs. It was left to Richie Alexander to keep the run rate of four an over going. He stuck to his task with the help of Rob Mason to see Hambleden to victory in the 38th over. His 29 not out included a hooked six to finish the game.
