WOODCOTE lost a high-scoring match at CROWTHORNE on Sunday by 64 runs. Crowthorne batsman Joe Davies was in imperious form as he hit an unbeaten century and he received good support from his opening partner and Baines.
On a long hot afternoon in the field the Woodcote bowlers and fielders did their best to stem the flow of runs and Sean Bell’s 3-22 was the most impressive performance.
Woodcote faced an uphill task after tea chasing 269 and although they played positively, the visitors never really looked as if they could pull off a win, especially after opening bowler, Miller, had reduced them to 43-4.
Skipper Jonny Aldridge (56) and the experienced Dave Ravenhill did well to share a stand worth 66 runs, and there was also a good tail-end performance from Ross Brown and Sean Bell. Woodcote closed on 205-9.
