KIDMORE END U10s finished their first season of hard ball cricket with a resounding win away to MORTIMER to finish fourth in the Berkshire Youth League.
Winning the toss Kidmore End put Mortimer into bat on a damp wicket following a heavy downpour and wickets started to fall at regular intervals. Ed Handley (2-1) and Thomas Branch set the tone for the innings with good opening bowling and backed up with fine performances from Sam Hill (3-3), Jack Lambert (1-1) and Alasdair Sutton (1-1). Marshalled well in the field by captain Jacob Holroyd and with good fielding from Matthew Wright, Ben Smith and William Crowland, Mortimer were restricted to 52-8 in their allotted 20 overs.
Kidmore End openers Handley (21 not out) and Branch batted in a positive fashion with Branch departing for eight with the score on 15.
Ethan White (10 not out) came in at number three and batted with confidence and along with some good pull shots from Handley helped Kidmore End to reach their target with 10 overs to spare.
