IN winning at ASTON ROWANT last Saturday, HENLEY became Home Counties Premier Cricket League Division 1 Champions-elect.
Only the unlikely combination this coming weekend against Burnham of defeat, scoring no points and being docked any points can now give Slough any chance of overhauling them.
So, the reality is that Henley are Division 1 Champions for the fifth time since they arrived in Division 1 in 2003, and as in 2010, they have done the Double, winning the Home Counties Premier Cricket League T20 competition as well.
All that said, Henley certainly did not have it all their own way against Rowant in yet another game in which a substandard batting performance was, once again, and only eventually, rescued by excellent bowling and fielding, underwritten by a cast iron will to win.
Winning the toss, Rowant skipper Wesley Morrick put Henley into bat on a wicket so green as to be barely distinguishable from the rest of the square and surrounding outfield.
