GREYS GREEN held on for a draw against WEST WYCOMBE on Saturday.
On a good batting track Wycombe batted first and despite the early loss of Woolams to Tim Cross the visitors set about Greys’ attack with some ease.
Tim Cross was the pick of the bowlers as his recent run of taking top order wickets continued but even his efforts could not stem the flow of runs. Jones fell for 86 but Lloyd and Evans completed the innings with 56 and 24 respectively.
In reply the hosts were never going to chase down the 262 set by the visitors and from the off set about saving the game.
Hoggart proved to be Greys Green’s hero by batting all but eight overs of the match. Wickets continued to fall at regular intervals but Chesterton anchored the rocking ship despite the close attention of six close fielders in the final half hour.
