BERKSHIRE, captained by new skipper James Morris, warmed up for the start of their MCCA Trophy campaign in impressive style.
They hammered BEDFORDSHIRE by 178 runs in a friendly at Dunstable on Sunday.
Morris led the way with 79, which included seven fours, as Berkshire raced to 273—5 in their 50 overs.
New Falkland club colleague Matt Jones made 59 with the help of a six and six boundaries, while former Henley player Euan Brock blasted an unbeaten 56 off 55 balls which included five boundaries.
The Berkshire bowlers then did their job equally as well.
Normandy seamer Matt Carter, a member of the Berkshire Academy, took 3—14 off seven overs, the first four of which were maidens.
Tom Andrews also finished with three wickets, at a cost of 18 runs off seven overs.
Berkshire’s opening MCCA Trophy game is against Dorset at their new venue of Burnham CC on Sunday (11am).
