The visitors reached 204—8 with captain Mark Taylor hitting a quickfire 38 after a sound start from the openers.

Tony Breakspear was Checkendon’s outstanding bowler taking 2—15 in his eight overs.

The home side suffered a poor start to their innings but recovered well thanks to John Acland-Hood’s fluent 80.

They were unable to reach their target, finishing on 179—8 despite a fine undefeated 15 from 16-year-old Sam Arrowsmith.

l Last Saturday CHECKENDON lost at home to HARROW WAYFARERS.

Checkendon scored 154 all out of which Sandeep Hedge made 52. In reply Harrow reached 158—7.
