BBC Caversham are out of tune

GREYS GREEN ran out winners in their home match against BBC CAVERSHAM last Sunday.

GREYS GREEN ran out winners in their home match against BBC CAVERSHAM last Sunday.

The two Greens, D and M, did well to resist for the first hour against some good bowling, with D Green looking assured for the visitors. Their opening stand of 44 was broken by Skilleter’s opening delivery, aided by a reaction catch from Evans at first slip.

Ahmed snapped up D Green for a well-constructed 40, these two catches making up for several missed chances in blustery conditions.

The bowlers were now getting on top with the brothers Ahmed and Shafqat sharing six wickets, but some lusty blows by Halford, Salmon, Cowley and Quinn enabled BBC to reach 149—8 at tea.

Greys got off to a good start but the introduction of Smith brought about the first wicket at 37, Cusden for 26, together with a reduction in the scoring rate, and a further 17 overs were required to double the total. Greys’ debutant Alex Smith hit five sixes in a knock of 42 but when he was caught by Halford, the hosts still required 19 from four overs.

Shafqat carried his bat for 44, with two balls of the match remaining, as Greys Green finished on 151—4.
