WHITCHURCH and CHECKENDON braved persistent heavy drizzle for a 35-over match on Sunday.

The home side raced to 223-5 in their allotted overs thanks mainly to a hard-hitting 70 from Nick Hill which included six sixes.

Cormack Neeson and Lyn Williams lent aggressive support while Checkendon stuck to their task in difficult conditions.

The visitors were never able to mount a challenge to this sizeable total and were dismissed for 87 with opening bowler N Turner taking 3-18.
