Hunt’s unbeaten century not enough for Turville Park

JAMES HUNT’S unbeaten century was not enough for TURVILLE PARK as they lost out at BRITWELL SALOME on Sunday.

JAMES HUNT’S unbeaten century was not enough for TURVILLE PARK as they lost out at BRITWELL SALOME on Sunday.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Britwell Salome’s M Luxford and D Coates made a steady start against the bowling of Tom White and Paul Girdler, who sung the ball each way with good accuracy and control in bowler friendly conditions.

The partnership eventually ended when Luxford missed a straight one from Sam Beardall and was soon followed by a good piece of fielding from James Hunt to run out Coates. From here on the batting turned decidedly more aggressive as Britwell Salome raced to 208-5 at tea.

Turville’s response was orchestrated by Hunt, who in regularly clearing the rope compiled a chanceless century and with just one over remaining, all three results were still possible. Turville needed just two runs and Britwell Salome a further wicket (in a nine-a-side match) for victory. However, just one ball was needed as Dawson won the match for Britwell as he caught and bowled White.
