A HALF-CENTURY from Steve Wincott gave GORING a steady start to their friendly game at CHECKENDON on Sunday.

A varied bowling attack kept the home side in the game, allied to athletic fielding although valuable scores from Ed Everitt and Alex Crawford took Goring to a competitive total of 176-9 declared in 41 overs.

The home team’s reply never got off the ground in the face of accurate Goring bowling, notably from Tom Ferry who finished with 4-38 as Checkendon were dismissed for 70 in 29.1 overs.
