HURLEY crashed to a 179-run Division 2 defeat away to COLESHILL last Saturday.

HURLEY crashed to a 179-run Division 2 defeat away to COLESHILL last Saturday.

The hosts batted first and put on 241-7 with N Gibson top scoring with 61. P Ridgeway took 3-46 for the visitors while R Brown chipped in with two wickets.

In reply Hurley were dismissed for just 62 runs with only two players reaching double figures.

HURLEY 2nds, with several regular players missing, suffered a 10-wicket Division 3 defeat at home to PENN AND TYLERS GREEN 2nds.

The visitors won the toss and put the hosts to bat first. Clive Williams hit a well-crafted innings which lasted more than two hours. Unfortunately, with the exception of Jeff Dawson, none of the other batsmen managed to get to double figures as Jeff Morris ripped through the middle order.

Dawson decided attack was the best form of defence, with six boundaries and a six from 35 deliveries to take Hurley to a batting point. The innings was brought to a close with the run out of Eli Lederman on 101.

After a couple of tight overs each from Scott Taylor and Ben Lederman, Matt Burchill and Danny Lewis made quick work of chasing down the required runs inside 13 overs.
