Big hitting Furber is the century hero

Skipper Phil Chappell lost the toss for Henley and saw his side put into bat first.

The hosts got off to a good start with Peter Neville and Harry Manoharan (52) scoring freely.

Neville was adjudged lbw when on 14 while Manoharan was joined at the crease by Peter Roseff (54).

Both batsmen were to score half centuries with Roseff cutting and nudging and Manoharan hitting some good drives. The duo set the base for newcomer Graham Furber who struck some seven sixes on his way to a century before retiring. The innings closed on 244 off 40 overs.

The visitors got off to a fine start with Jake Leach latching on to anything short before John Neville made the breakthrough, taking both openers, lbw and bowled.

Leg spin bowler Tom Chappell took the vital wicket of Hayden as he ended with impressive figures of 5-18. Jack Thompson also took his first wicket for Henley as the visitors were dismissed for 97.
