ALDERMASTON were asked to bat first at WOODCOTE on Sunday and were soon in trouble, losing three wickets with only four runs on the board, to a devastating opening spell from Mike Stroker and Tom Brownlow.

Stroker recorded figures of 2-3, while Brownlow’s four overs were all maidens. The change bowlers proved just as difficult to cope with for the visitors with leg-spinner Ed Ravenhill helping himself to three wickets and Ben Allen taking four as Aldermaston were bowled out for 99 in 26 overs.

Woodcote openers Crawford Anderson and Simon Fuller put on 72 for the first wicket and as good as won the match for their team. Although five wickets were captured by Aldermaston late on, the result was never in doubt and was accomplished in 25 overs.
