WOODCOTE’S Sunday team secured their fifth consecutive win with a 60 run victory over Earley in a high-scoring match.
Woodcote skipper, Jonny Aldridge (118) hit a magnificent century and received full support from the prolific Simon Fuller (69) in a 200 run second wicket partnership.
Earley, in reply, produced their own century scoring captain in Gary Shacklady but, in spite of his heroics, Earley were never really in the hunt.
With Ed Ravenhill taking three wickets in one over, and Ben Allen destroying the tail with the last four wickets, Earley were bowled out in the last over.
WOODCOTE Midweek, who defeated Woodhay Woodpeckers last season to win the Downs League title, lost out to the same side for the second time this season on Wednesday last week.
Woodhay hit 159 for 5 in their 20 overs with R Dando reaching his half century.
Woodcote briefly threatened to overhaul that total but eventually fell seven runs short with seven wickets down.
Paul Knox (46) and Mike Stroker (33) were the pick of the Woodcote batsmen.
