Visitors fall short of their target at Harpsden

HARPSDEN ran out winners by 63 runs at home against PYESTOCK on Sunday.

HARPSDEN ran out winners by 63 runs at home against PYESTOCK on Sunday.

The hosts started well after being inserted on a green wicket with Sam Imlay and Justin Bradley taking the attack to the bowlers.

The dismissal of Bradley for 15 brought Horatio Cary to the crease who scored a quickfire 49. Imlay was finally dismissed for 65, following tight bowling from J Bromley.

Ollie Heath scored a well made 43 not out at the end of the innings to bring Harpsden to 222-4 from their 40 overs.

Pyestock got off to a slow start thanks to disciplined opening bowling from Rory Ashmore who picked up the wickets of J Bromley and V Newcombe.

As the visitors started to get behind the rate wickets continued to tumble with Matt Hayward and Will Stevens taking three apiece.

A big 10th wicket partnership between B Bromley and C McGovern got Pyestock closer than it seemed they would, but Harpsden had plenty of runs on the board with the visitors finishing on 159-9 from their 40 overs and Harpsden victorious by 63 runs.
