Iqball to rescue

HENLEY ran out winners at home to CLAPHAM INN at the Brakspear Ground on Sunday.

HENLEY ran out winners at home to CLAPHAM INN at the Brakspear Ground on Sunday.

The hosts chose to bat first and all top six batsmen chipped in with good scores including opener Duncan Verry (46) and Rainger (35), although nobody went on to make a big score.

Looking like they could set a big target of 260 plus, Henley were pegged back at the end but 11 off the last over saw Henley reach 224.

Clapham Inn started quickly and at the halfway point were on target. Man-of-the-match 17-year-old leg spinner Tahir Kazmi applied the breaks picking up three wickets in his eight over spell and conceding only 16 runs.

With Henley seemingly cruising to an easy victory Misty and Curtis hit some big blows to bring Clapham back into the game. Looking at the possibility of defeat skipper Peter Neville brought himself on to bowl and picked up two wickets in one over. Iqball picked up the last wicket in the last over to see Henley to victory with 25 runs to spare.
