Imlay seals maiden century for Harpsden

SAM IMLAY hit a century to help HARPSDEN defeat WHITE WALTHAM on a flat pitch on Sunday.

SAM IMLAY hit a century to help HARPSDEN defeat WHITE WALTHAM on a flat pitch on Sunday.

Harpsden won the toss and elected to bat on a flat pitch. In response the White Waltham opening bowlers started strongly picking up two quick wickets.

Harpsden rebuilt through Harris and Stevens but as the opening pair finished up their spells both batsmen departed.

The bowlers that followed didn’t bowl as well as their predecessors as Imlay and Heath took full advantage.

Heath completed a half-century and through a mixture of aggression and good running Imlay completed a maiden century for Harpsden.

After tea White Waltham were faced with a rapid spell of bowling from Toby Stevens but it was Alex Bradley who took the opening wicket and proceeded to bowl a spell of eight overs, picking up 2-29.

With extras top scoring, Waltham ended short of the Harpsden total with the home side running out victors by 91 runs.

HARPSDEN ran out five-wicket winners at home to CLAPHAM INN last Saturday.

Clapham won the toss and decided to bat first. The visitors started well with Ferreira making 42 and Gregory reaching 35.

Tight bowling from Toby Stevens and wickets from Rod Birkett and Alex Bradley restricted the away side to a below par 153 in their 40 overs.

Harpsden’s response started badly as Adam Birkett was removed early but Ted Rooke and Alun Lloyd put on a 50-run partnership before both were removed.

Wickets started to fall at regular intervals with Gareth Morgan being the pick of the bowlers but Sam Imlay’s knock of 39 saw Harpsden triumph.
