WOODCOTE overcame MORTIMER WEST END by three wickets with three balls to spare at home on Sunday.

Paul Belcher and Bray were the main run-scorers for the visitors in their innings with Belcher reaching a half-century.

On a good batting track only five wickets were taken but most of the Woodcote bowlers kept a tight line to keep the score at a reasonable level.

David Simpson bowled well without luck, but conceded only 30 runs in his seven overs while Pete Roberts conceded only four runs in a five over spell.

Woodcote’s innings got off to a good start with an opening partnership of 79 between Simon Fuller and Crawford Anderson. There was a mini-collapse in the middle order before Paul Knox saw his side to victory with a knock of 69.

On the third ball of the last over of the match Knox’s skied catch was dropped while the winning single was run.
