GREYS GREEN’S opening batsman G Butler top scored with 97 to help his side to an 83 run win at LONGWICK on Sunday.

The visitors lost the toss and were put into bat first where Knight was stumped in the fourth over and Shafqat was run out.

Butler’s mixed solid defence with the ability to dispatch the ball frequently to the boundary saw Greys on 130-3 after 32 overs. Skilleter was dismissed for 15.

After a tricky start, Perry started to hit the ball to all parts of the ground before Butler was caught just short of his century.

Ahmed and Perry took the visitors’ total past 200, the fifth wicket pair adding 50 in the last four overs.

Longwick’s openers put on 88 and barely looked troubled but both fell in quick succession to diving catches by Cross and Butler.

Skilleter started to put a stranglehold on the innings and, commencing with a catch from Knight, wickets started to fall with regularity.

Perry was bowling well and, between them, they accounted for the remaining wickets and Longwick were all out for 129 off 34 overs, with Skilleter finishing with 6-18.
