Knox in fine form

WOODCOTE’S winning Downs Midweek League run continued as they eased to a comfortable home win against bottom club HAMPSTEAD

WOODCOTE’S winning Downs Midweek League run continued as they eased to a comfortable home win against bottom club HAMPSTEAD NORREYS last week.

Batting first, the visitors only managed to score 113-6 with the bowling honours once more going to Paul Knox (2-3) and James Worsfold (1-6).

Woodcote raced to a nine wicket win in only 11 overs. Knox top-scored with 34 not out, Mike Stroker hit 32 and Stefan Gordon was not out on 27.

Last Thursday OLD MERCHANT TAYLORS won their fifth match of their tour at WOODCOTE by 57 runs.

Woodcote used eight bowlers, the most successful being Dave Ravenhill who took 2-7 in his spell. White top-scored for the visitors with his maiden half-century.

For Woodcote, Crawford Anderson was once again in top form with the bat and was last out for 68. He received good support from Dave Ravenhill (26) and Jonny Aldridge (25) but the home side never looked like overhauling the visitors’ score.
